Recycling Services

Anti-freeze

Used antifreeze from households should be taken to Metro South Transfer Station for proper disposal. They accept up to 35 gallons without an appointment (leave the container you bring it in), and don't mix it with other chemicals or oils, etc (diluted with water is fine).

2001 Washington St, Oregon City, 9am to 4pm seven days a week

Never pour used antifreeze on the ground, down a storm drain, or in your septic system.

Batteries

To recycle accepted batteries, put them in a 1-quart sealed plastic bag in your red glass bin. Taping the terminals reduces the risk of fires on the collection truck or during sorting.

The following batteries can be recycled in the curbside program:

    • Alkaline batteries such as AAAAs, AAAs, AAs, C, D (don't need ends taped)
    • Alkaline 6-volt, 9-volt (need terminals taped)
    • Lithium ion and button batteries used in watches and cameras (need ends taped)
    • Rechargeable batteries (need ends taped)
    • Batteries packs used in laptops and cellphones

The following batteries are not accepted in the curbside program:

    • Lead acid batteries: Take to a battery shop or a hazardous waste facility
    • Electric bike batteries: Take to a hazardous waste facility (see Pride Disposal below)
